Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)

Even though Halloween has past this year, I can't quite say I want the spookiness to leave. Even though this years Halloween for me was a complete disaster- my outfit ended up as a collaboration of Marina (from Marina and the Diamonds of course), Suzy from Moonrise Kingdom and hints of sixties Mod fashion make-up. You see, no scariness involved at all. I created a polyvore outfit thing anyways, if you want to try out this collaboration for an everyday outfit - and also for the mod make up I did, I simply referred to this.

Lonely Hearts Club

For the past few years, I have been dressing up as a gothic doll. I took Halloween as a chance to reminisce back to when I first started high school, that was when I first came in to contact with Japanese gothic lolita fashion. All my friends thought I was expressing my teen angst through my appearance - black tights, skulls, black lace skirts, corsets, black band tops and of course, eyeliner. At the time, I wasn't exactly experienced with make up, so you could describe my application of eyeliner as just two lines drawn near my bottom lashes. Oh and who could forget my sudden interest in the music genre of metal, I would wear my Megadeth t-shirt everywhere. Last year, my friend said that I had a 'successful goth phase', I'm not really sure you can call it a phase though, because I still want to incorporate the gothic elements in fashion in my outfits today.

Here's some outfits I created this morning, hopefully have a creepy-gothic/Harajuku fashion feel to them!

Jeepers Creepers

Peter pan dress / Lace cocktail dress, $22 / Stefanel pleated dress, $265 / Black shoes, $48 / The Cambridge Satchel Company genuine leather handbag / Photo jewelry / MAC Cosmetics nail lacquer, $14 / Essie coral nail polish / Underground Wulfrun creeper baby, pnk, natrl, $150

The dresses remind me of Winona Ryder in the film Mermaids (1990). I've always wanted a dress like that! If you haven't seen the film, do watch it, even though the title's not really relevant to the actual film - Winona Ryder is just a super babe.

This next out fit is more or less inspired by Enid Coleslaw from Ghost World.

My body's a zombie

Here are some spooky vibes~*~

And to end off the post, I have decided to end it with the song which inspired the title of this post, Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) by the one and only David Bowie. Sadly, I couldn't find any music video for this, but do enjoy the song by itself, because the song itself is just so CREEPITASTIC!

California Dreamin'

I recently watched the film Chungking Express (1994), directed by Wong Kar Wai, and I must say, this film was really impressive. I just really liked the combination of love and tinned pineapples and of course talking to inanimate objects about self confidence.

Anyways, enough about the film itself. I really like the outfits worn by Faye Wong in the film, they were so quirky and adorable and also the iconic outfit worn by Bridgette Lin.

Indoor house plant

A few days ago was the end of school for me, so right now I'm just on supposedly 'study break', more like 'time for teenagers to sit at home and be indoor house plants' - for those who don't have much of a social life that is. So I've just decided it would be apt to post about my indoor plant vibes.

I've been listening to Alt-J (∆) recently, especially Breezeblocks - there's just something about this song that makes me feel nostalgic, like I'm swimming in the ocean.

I've also been listening to a lot of the Radiohead albums recently, they had a concert here recently, but the tickets were sold out in less than 5 minutes - I'm pretty sad that I missed out on watching Thom Yorke, he's just so fab.

I found this Sonic Youth gif. as I was tumbling on Tumblr, it's pretty cool.

Adding to my indoor plant vibes, I would just like to add my I-miss-winter-vibes. I've always found winter more suitable to piece together outfits.

An introduction

Salutations, I am currently a 16 year old Alien Princess. I decided to create a blog a long time ago, however I never got around to it, but since it's summer holidays soon I have taken the time to finally create one. So here I am, new blog. I will post photographs of the mundane activities I take part in, my traveling adventures, as well as fashion, art, music.

Oh, and I also really like pizza.
